AP Calc AB Unit 8 Comprehensive Review Resources

AP Calc Unit 8 Review Intro

Before we get into the Calculus, congratulations for making it to the last unit of AP Calc (unless you’re in BC and you have to deal with Unit 9-10)! Unit 8 is all about applying integrals to real-life scenarios and to 3d scenarios, like rotations. All of this might seem intimidating at first glance, but all the following resources will help you get an A+ in your class and a 5 on the AP exam. Let’s get started!

1. Review Presentation

The first item of our list of great resources covering AP Calc Unit 8 is a Canva Presentation I made recently going through every single topic in the Unit as outlined by the CED. Each topic (well, almost) includes a slide with a summary of essential concepts + a slide with a worked example from Khan Academy. I wouldn’t recommend only studying off these slides, but they’re a great review when you just want a quick refresher of the basic concepts!

(+) Good refresher with worked practice problems following the CED

(-) Surface level review; more practice required

2. Flipped Math

Good old Algebros. You know them, you love them, they’re a fantastic resource!

(+) Organized according to the CED, AP Style Questions, lots of practice; packets for note-taking

3. Paul's Online Notes

Paul’s Online Notes is an absolute goldmine for Calc resources. He explains every topic in-depth, including example problems and some practice problems for extra practice. The only downside of his website is that it isn’t modeled after the College Board’s CED, so it’s a bit confusing to get to each topic. For this reason, I’ve organized a list with links for each topic in the CED right here! The resources available for Unit 8 AP Calc is sort of lacking, but it’s one of the best resources for other units. His website is super awesome, so make sure to check it out.

(+) Understandable and in-depth explanations of the concepts

(-) Not organized according to the CED; doesn’t have all topics; no AP-style practice problems

4. IITian Academy

An unknown reason with real AP-style questions, IITian Academy offers MCQs and FRQs for all AP Calc topics. It’s particularly useful if you have run out of other practice questions and want some harder ones, just like the AP Classroom quizzes/progress checks. This website also offers a ton of other reviews for AP subjects (It’s saved me in AP Bio multiple times). I recommend this website for students who already know what they’re doing and want extra difficult practice similar to what the AP exam will ask.

(+) Actual AP Questions organized by the CED

(-) Answers are not explained thoroughly sometimes; only practice questions

If you need more help overall, here’s an article I wrote some time ago about AP Calc AB resources in general. A lot of them are repeated from this article, but it might be helpful!
